Over 6,000 people will take part in the ninth annual Sun Run on Saturday 2 February at 6:45am from The Strand in Dee Why and finish by 11am at North Steyne in Manly. Road closures and changed access arrangements will be in effect.

From 4am to 9am in Dee Why on sections of Howard Ave, The Strand and Abbott Rd. Vehicle crossing of The Strand will be maintained at Pacific Pde (westbound exit only) until 6.30am.

From 5:30am to 9am in Curl Curl/Freshwater on sections of Griffin Rd and Carrington Pde. Two-way vehicle crossing of Griffin Rd will be maintained at Pitt St until 6.30am.

From 6am to 10am in Queenscliff on sections of Queenscliff Rd, Undercliff Rd and Dalley Rd.

Two-way vehicle crossing of Charles St will be maintained at Moore Rd until 6.40am, crossing of Downing St will be managed at Crown Rd (westbound exit only) until 6.45am. Access to Cameron Ave will be managed via Collingwood St from 6am until 9:30am.

From 4am to 11am in Manly on sections of North & South Steyne, Wentworth St and Raglan St 

Affected residents are advised to travel before or after the roads are closed as managed access will be limited or restricted. 

Special event clearways will be in place along the event route on sections of The Strand, Abbott Rd, Harbord Rd, Queenscliff Rd and North Steyne between 4am and 9am. 

Clearways are strict no-parking zones, even for local residents or RMS Mobility Scheme Permit holders. Vehicles left in clearways will be towed and a fee applies.

  • Abbott Rd between Pitt Rd and Harbord Rd (southern side)
  • Griffin Rd over Curl Curl Lagoon bridge, approx. 200m (eastern side)
  • The Strand between Dee Why Parade and Oaks Avenue (both sides)
  • Harbord Rd between Abbott Road and path to Greendale Creek (eastern side)
  • Harbord Rd between Milles Street and Abbott Road  (western side)

FRESHWATER/QUEENSCLIFF

From 4am to 9am

  • Charles Street between Oceanview Road and Evans Street (western side)
  • Crown Road between Cavill Street and Dowling Street (both sides)
  • Dowling Street  between Undercliff Road and  Crown Road (eastern side)
  • Evans Street between Charles Street and Carrington Street (northern side)
  • Queenscliff Road between Greycliffe Street and 116 Queenscliff Road (southern side)
  • Undercliff Road  between Charles Street and 52 Undercliff Road (northern side)

MANLY

  • Dee Why Parade 1 between Clyde Road and The Strand (both directions)
  • Howard Avenue between Clyde Road and The Strand (both directions)
  • Oaks Avenue between Clyde Road and The Strand (eastbound)
  • The Strand between Dee Why Parade and Pacific Parade (both directions)

1. The closure will be implemented once event carpark is full

From 5:30am to 9am

  • Abbott Road  between Pitt Road and Griffin Road (both directions)
  • Abbott Road between Harbord Road and Pitt Road (westbound)
  • Pitt Road 2 between Blackwood Road and Griffin Road (both directions)

2. Vehicle point until 6:30am - After 6.30am there will be no vehicle crossing of The Strand as barriers will be implemented. Residents in streets east of The Strand from Oaks Ave to Pitt Rd will be unable to travel west of The Strand until 9am when the road is reopened.

No driveway access to the Sports grounds along Abbott Rd between Harbord Rd and Griffin Rd while the westbound lanes of Abbott Rd are closed from 5.30am to 9am. Properties include Dee Why RSL Bowling Club, John Fisher Netball Courts, John Fisher Park (Denzil Joyce, Reub Hudson and Old Reub Hudson Ovals) and Abbott Rd Softball Ground.

  • Adams Street between Lalchere Street and Griffin Road (eastbound)
  • Carrington Parade between Adams Street and Evans Street (both directions)
  • Charles Street 3 between Evans Street and Undercliff Road (both directions)
  • Gardere Avenue between Farnell Street and Carrington Parade (eastbound)
  • Evans Street between Lumsdaine Drive and Charles Street (both directions)
  • Evans Street between Albert Street and Charles Street (eastbound)

3. Vehicle crossover point until 6:40am - After 6.40am there will be no vehicle crossing of Charles St as barriers will be implemented. Residents in streets at Freshwater Beach east of Charles St will be unable to travel past Charles St until 9am when the road is reopened.

Sections of Crown Road and Downing Street close at 6am. Vehicle crossing of Downing Street will be managed under traffic control at Crown Road (westbound exit only) until 6.45am. Between 6.45am and 9am there will be no vehicle crossing of Downing Street until after 9am when one-way crossing will again be managed until 10am when the road is then reopened in both directions.

MANLY

From 4am to 9:30am

  • Collingwood Street  between Bonner Avenue and North Steyne (eastbound)
  • Denison Street between Whistler Street and North Steyne (both directions)
  • North Steyne between Bridge Road and Raglan Street (both directions)
  • Raglan Street between Henrietta Lane and North Steyne (both directions)
  • Raglan St between Pittwater Road and Henrietta Lane (eastbound)

From 4am to 11am

  • Ashburner Street between Darley Road and South Steyne (westbound)
  • North/South Steyne between Raglan Street and Ashburner Street (both directions)
  • Rialto Lane access from Wentworth Street (both directions)
  • Victoria Parade 6 between Darley Road and South Steyne (eastbound)
  • Wentworth Street 6 between Darley Road and South Steyne (eastbound)
